Borneo International School Kuching is the latest addition to an Education Group that comprises Nobel International, United International, Havil International and Legacy private schools in Peninsular Malaysia. This Education Group of Schools has more than 15 years of experience in education. The whole purpose of establishing Borneo International School, at its readily accessible site in Tabuan Laru, is to bring realistic and affordable fees to families who have never before considered private internationally recognized education for their children. Our educational expectations will bring out the best of the children, in academic and social terms as well as making them more aware of the wider world and their personal opportunities beyond school. Our Latin motto, ´Pro Doctrina Vitae´, literally means ´learning for life or life-long learning´ which truly encapsulates our ideals. Your child will be taught, through the medium of English in all classes, by well qualified teachers. We follow the UK educational system so that our students will receive international educational qualifications via the Cambridge University International Examinations (CIE), for which we are an accredited examination center. Such credentials are recognized worldwide for entrance into university and other forms of tertiary education.

Borneo International School follows the Cambridge International Curriculum, which is a system designed around a set of the very best of educational and assessment principles.Children aged 6-11 years will be enrolled in the Cambridge Primary Programme (CPP) developing their skills in English, Maths, Science skills and knowledge. This teaching methodology builds the foundation and prepares our students for lower secondary and senior secondary school education.
For the Lower Secondary School, Borneo runs the Cambridge Secondary Programme (CSP). This programme is a seamless progression from CPP. Students that are eligible for enrolment in this programme are typically 11-14 years of age.
Students from the Lower Secondary School (14-16 years old) will progress to the Senior Secondary School level and will be required to take the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), which culminates in the students receiving the globally-recognized Cambridge IGCSE qualification.

The Checkpoint Exam is conducted by the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) but it is not a formal qualification even though a Statement of Achievement is awarded to students who pass the test. The papers submitted by the students are sent to Cambridge and are then marked by trained and skilled examiners.
The Primary Checkpoint will be held at the end of the Primary phase of education in Year 6 and is part of Borneo´s long-term assessment. Parents may opt out of their children taking this exam, if with their teacher´s advice, their children are not yet ready for such exams.
All Lower Secondary School students will take the Checkpoint exam in Year 9. This is a good preparation for their IGCSE strengths and choices. From the feedback from these tests, students will come to know which subjects they excel in and in which areas they need to strive to do better in.

All subjects will be taught in English except for the Bahasa Malaysia & Mandarin languages.

Parents will be notified of their child´s homework and parents will also receive progress updates via a dedicated mobile app. Parents will receive two written reports per annum on their child´s progress and an annual parent teacher meeting (PTM) to provide feedback regarding their child´s development.

Please submit, together with copies of your child´s most recent school report and exam results. Submission can be sent by email to enquiry@borneo.edu.my or by post or in person to the school. We will contact each parent to schedule an appointment for the child to sit for an entrance assessment exam. Within a week, we will notify you of the results and the recommended Year for the enrollment of your child. After your child has been successfully assessed, the school will promptly issue an Offer of Acceptance letter

Below is Borneo´s guideline on enrollment levels. A child´s maturity and his/her English language proficiency will be considered alongside their age. His/her acceptance into an appropriate Year will also be based on the entrance assessment results.

There are 4 terms per academic year.

There are four (4) terms in an academic year. A typical school calendar is:
1st term: January to Mid-March
2nd term: End March to Mid-May
3rd term: June to Mid-August
4th term: End August- November

The school starts on 12th June this year.

Primary: 8.00am - 3.00 pm
Secondary: 8.00am - 3.30pm

Co-curricular activities (CCA)
Primary : 3.00 - 4.00 pm (Tuesday &Thursday)
Secondary : 3.30 - 4.30 pm (Wednesday & Friday)

School hours may be subject to change.

Performing Arts are comprised of music, drama and dance activities. These are offered as part of our Co-curricular and students can join the Drama, Art & Design and Music Clubs as part of our co-curricular activities programme.

All students will have the chance of learning to play or improvise on percussion instruments. They can also perform on recorders, guitars and keyboards.

Our academic facilities include Multimedia smart board classrooms, ICT lab, Science labs and a comprehensive library. There is a multipurpose indoor hall and a Performing Art and Drama academy centre. Our extensive sport facilities include both learners´ and older students´ swimming pools, an indoor badminton hall with 4 full sized courts, outdoor tennis, futsal, basketball and volleyball courts.

Yes, there is a bookshop on the school premises. It houses school text books, exercise books, stationary, arts & crafts, school uniforms, etc. Please call at the reception office for further directions.

Primary, Y1-Y6 (20-25). Secondary, Y7-Y11 (25) Y12-13 (maximum of 25) although at both AS and A level, students will be taught in much smaller groups according to their subject choices.

Yes, we have lockers for Secondary students. For our Primary students, we have areas to store bags/clothing.

The teachers are a mix of local and overseas teachers. They are well qualified and trained to provide superior teaching methodology based on the best practices in international education. They also attend refresher courses annually.

Yes, there are specially designed Science labs and ICT rooms with smart boards.

The school employs 24 hours in-house uniformed security guards and CCTV cameras to monitor and ensure the safety and security of our students and the school at all times.

The school can provide a 3rd party school bus operator with direct contact to parents. Please enquire at the Administration office.

The school has a healthy and nutritious lunch menu. All students will be expected to take lunch in the Cafeteria. The cost of each daily lunch is RM 7.00 for the 2017 academic year.

There will be different break and lunch times for primary and secondary students.
